The Examined Life
by Bram Levinson

"Levinson doesn't give concrete answers to solutions. He offers no false promises, instead providing insight, information gained from his own process and examples from his life.

This is where the book truly shines. Bram Levinson has taken the time to examine his own life, to think deeply about the reality he wants to create and the ways he wants to take action in the world. The Examined Life is his way of sharing his insights and encouraging people to ask the hard questions and get more out of their lives."

- Roseanne Harvey,

"Levinson offers generous advice (including personal anecdotes) in this accessible, beautiful and reflective book about how to get out of your own way. A respected yoga teacher and workshop leader, Levinson manages to pull off the double feat of offering both deep insight and spiritual guidance, along with maintaining readability. Being in the present moment is not easy. But, with some work and dedication, it is possible."

- The Book Dumpling,

"Wow just finished the book! I let out a big sigh at the end when I got to the appendix. I think I forgot to breath the last few pages:)) That is one of the most thought-provoking books I have read. And I have read LOTS of those "figure yourself out" type books. This covers the topic from a holistic approach which completely resonates with me at this point in my life. Truth be told I did shed tears here and there as some of the questions peel off layers of protection from old wounds, fears and inadequacies. All that "stuff" bubbles up to the surface and you have to face it. I plan to purchase a few more copies and give to a few more souls that will find this book very timely. Xx"

"I finished reading this book about a week ago and I've been meaning to write this review but haven't been able to start.. and since I'm having a hard time sleeping tonight and since I got inspiration in a quote I just read which I'll share later here I go.. I'm an avid reader and I like to hold a book in my hand but since I've moved to the suburbs and seldom venture downtown I bought this book on iTunes, the first book I've read digitally if I may add... it took me less then a week to read and I loved it.. I want to buy a copy for all my friends.. it was a fantastic read, very well written, inspirational, educational and thought provoking. I found myself talking about it to whoever would listen and quoting it wherever I could.. It's funny how we sometimes just need to stop and rethink things in our lives.

Now here's that quote that inspired me to finally write tonight: "What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though." J.D. Salinger"

"Call it synchronicity, serendipity, or call it what you will! Upon buying it, every time I picked up Bram's new book The Examined Life, I'd find answers relevant to questions I had or new perspectives to current events in my life. After a few days, I came to expect these a-ha moments, insights or new outlooks on life in between the pages. And I found them.

If you have ever questioned yourself, your life, your habits, your beliefs, or if your life feels like the movie Ground Hog Day and you're looking for new awareness in your life, The Examined Life might very well be the book you are looking for. I know, for me, it's one of the few books that I will refer back to, time and again. Enlightening!"

"The Examined Life guides you through the process of thoughtfully questioning your values, and how they are transmitted into action and words, with optimism, clarity and good humour. Bram Levinson's words will wake you up to new ideas, while making you feel supported and connected throughout."

"I enjoyed it because it was a good read in itself, the topics, the tone, the anecdotes, but also because, for me, it answers certain important questions, settles a paradox or two, confirms some hunches, and is nudging me forward, too. I am certain I will come back to the book is one of the things I will turn to when I need reassurance and inspiration."
